Avancini and Fumic make the leading peloton, along with some 5 or 6 duos of the best riders in the world. It´s a close fight, but it´s still too soon to force things.

Em maratonas de Mountain Bike é muito comum a diversificação de terreno, com misturas de trechos em terra e asfalto. os riders precisam ser bons em diversas situações distintas.
In Mountain Bike it is very common the change of terrain, mixing tarmac and dirty sections. Riders must be good in many distinct situations.

Mesmo no asfalto, os riders encararam subidas e descidas de respeito. E sempre sob uma incessante chuva...
Even on tarmac, riders faced proper up and down hills, and always under non-stop rain...

Esta região da Bahia é uma grande produtora de cacau e látex. Neste trecho a caravana atravessou uma vasta fazenda de cultivo misto, que intercalava cacaueiros em meio a seringais.
This region of Bahia is a big cocoa and latex producer. In this strech the caravan crossed a mixed-cultive farm, that mixes cocoa trees with rubber plantations.

Com a chuva constante se formava uma camada de areia e lama sobre os riders. Mais um item de desconforto a entrar na lista.
With the constant rain, a layer of mud and sand formed over the riders. One more item of uncomfort for the list.

No segundo pelotão, Wolf e Edson não davam trégua. Este grupo era formado por alguns dos melhores riders do Brasil, em perseguição ao pelotão principal.
At the second peloton, Wolf and Edson had no break. This group was made by the best riders of Brazil, pursueing the main peloton.

A chegada na fazenda mostrou pilotos extenuados por causa das condições climáticas, que endureceram o percurso. A dupla da CFR sentiu o peso, mas manteve o segundo lugar. Hora de se limpar, descansar, analisar o resultado e traçar estratégias.
The arrival at the farm shoewed riders destroyed by the weather conditions, which made the course much harder. The CFR duo felt this weight, but kept the 2nd position. Time to get clean, rest, analyse the result and make strategies.

O cansaço era visível nos semblantes. Foi um dia realmente duro.
The exhaustion was visible in their expressions. It was a truly harsh day.

Por causa da chuva, havia dificuldade até nas tarefas mais simples, como a retirada das sapatilhas. Flagrei o Fumic muitas vezes nesta condição até cômica...
Due to the rain, even the simplest tasks were made difficult, like removing the biking shoes. I caught Fumic many times in this somewhat-comical condition...

O estado das bikes já dava dicas da evolução da etapa. Agora é preciso desmontar, limpar e remontar cada parafuso. Uma tarefa de Hércules.
The state of the bikes already showed signs of the evolution of the stage. Now it´s needed to disassemble, clean and re-assemble each bolt. A job for Hercules.
